What are you waiting for?

I'm wrestling with something--namely how and when
we make decisions, how long we wait and the things
we choose to 'try' without any guarantees.
For instance, over the last several years,
I have known folks so intent on losing weight
and getting healthy, they did what it took to get the GLP-1 drugs - actual hypodermic needles loaded with medicine because of the 'promise' they would lose a desired amount of weight. No proof, no guarantees of how it would go but nonetheless, a decision based on a hopeful positive change.
Having moved from the capital of 'all things beautiful', Orange County, California, I have known many women who believed the hype that Botox or other injectable products would lessen their facial wrinkles and make them look younger. They believed the advertisement and paid the price--including the intense pain! No proof, but a decision based on a hopeful result.
How many things do we 'try' without having every single factual detail or a 100 percent guarantee of an outcome? As I have considered the question, the answer is that in most decisions we make, we do so on an educated basis, we might even look at case studies (others who have made similar choices), and then, we make a 'leap of faith,' hopeful it will go the way we want.
And yet, when it comes to matters of faith, and what we do with an Almighty God--the thing that determines our eternity, we hesitate, we wait! 'Interesting that we who cannot stand to wait in matters of life and living, in traffic or grocery lines, we choose to keep Jesus waiting. hmmm.
Here's the thing-the evidence stacked up for Jesus is irrefutable.
1 - Considering the historicity of Jesus Christ---
No one of any reasonable intelligence doubts that Jesus:
-was a historical figure, born in Bethlehem, grew up in Nazareth
-ministered mostly around the Sea of Galilee, performed many miracles
-was falsely accused by the Jewish leaders, crucified like a vile criminal
-laid to rest in a borrowed tomb, which could not contain him.
**Apart from Scripture, Jesus' life was corroborated by Flavius Josephus, Jewish historian and by Roman historian Tacitus...plus eight more, ->Biblical Archaeology, https://biblearchaeologyreport.com/2022/11/18/top-ten-historical-references-to-jesus-outside-of-the-bible/
2 - Jesus supernaturally rose from the dead--interacted with more than
500 people over the 40 days he remained on earth.
3 - Jesus is unquestionably the most influential figure that has ever lived.
4 - Jesus miraculously transforms the lives of those who sincerely follow him.
Think of it--Christianity alone gives us the answers to the big questions of life:
How did I get here?
Why am I here?
What is wrong with the world?
What is the cure for the world?
What happens when I die?
Christianity makes sense and it is intellectually defensible.
But at the end of the day, the thing I know best is myself.
There is no life I would rather lead than the one I live with and for Christ,
no greater intimacy I experience than that which I have with Jesus,
and no greater wisdom learned or practiced than the truths of Scripture.
Maybe today is the day that you would say 'yes' to Jesus Christ, Son of God.
Go ahead, turn to him and pray--
Jesus, I don't know everything about you, but what I see is incomparable...
Thank you that you died for my sins; please forgive me of all of my wrong-doing, and set me free from shame and guilt.
I want to learn more about you and entrust my life to you each day.
Lord, I believe, and help me where I have doubts, I pray.
Amen.
This Jesus is who the beloved apostle Paul gave his life for - so that all would know, whatever it took, whatever the cost.
Jesus is enough - don't keep him waiting.
Still have questions? Ask me.
Do not pass up this brilliant offer of true life,
Christine
