The Parthenon is considered by many to be the most perfect architectural building in existence today. It was constructed in 446 BC on the highest point in ancient Athens, called the Acropolis. The apostle Paul no doubt walked on the Acropolis and saw the Parthenon during his visit to Athens in the summer of 50AD, recorded in Acts 17. Mars Hill, where Paul debated the message of Christ with the philosophers of Athens (Acts 17:18ff), is immediately adjacent to the north slope of the Acropolis, just below the Parthenon itself.
Following Paul's radical conversion to Jesus Christ, he became the first missionary - a Christian killer transformed. His four missionary journeys, recorded in the book of Acts, propelled the Gospel message of Jesus Christ onto the world stage forever changed western civilization. There are the 13 letters he wrote to the churches that he founded on those journeys--places like Ephesus, Corinth, Philippi and Thessalonica . . . places we will see and explore together! You will never read the New Testament in the same way again-your faith will grow exponentially as you see God's plan for the world unfolded in the Mediterranean lands.
