Can you only Imagine??

Now this is power! John 17

Can you imagine being with Jesus and having him pray over you? O, how blessed were those who experienced the physical presence and voice of Jesus, carrying them to the Father!

I can imagine that Jesus reached out and touched them as he prayed … imagine that Jesus touched the disciples often, as one more way of conveying his love to them. And when he commissioned them, I see him raising his hand in the authority that was his alone to release them to go and teach others. Perhaps he put his hand on the crown of each of their heads, one at a time. Ah, to have felt the touch of Jesus! Twould have been a supernatural exchange, conveying the power of the Holy Spirit upon the faithful followers.

Take a look at how and what Jesus prayed:

~keep them safe by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they will be one, just as you and I are one

I pray these things while I am still in the world so that these followers can have all of my joy in them

I am not asking you to take them out of the world but to keep them safe from the Evil One1

Jesus still prays for us, dear ones! “Christ Jesus who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”2

I remember a day I was driving over the hills to a weekend retreat at Forest Home in which I was the speaker. As fate would have it, my personal world seemed to have turned upside down that week--very serious issues over which I had no control. As I drove over poppy-covered hills that March day, (pictured above) I thought, 'I have to call someone to pray for me... I mean, how will I get up in front of a group and speak, without falling apart?!' And then I remembered Jesus himself is praying for me. I breathed out a 'thank you' and felt more at ease. My topic for the weekend, which had been chosen months in advance: Choose Joy. [Did you see above that Jesus desires his children to have all of his joy in us?]

Take heart, Friends ~ the Lord Jesus Christ is praying for you, his child. He is praying the very things for which you should also be asking your Father: favor, blessing and wisdom and more.
