Start of a new week . . .
many of the same challenges. T.H.R.I.V.E., #33
Sometimes you just don’t know where to start...
Sometimes it is like being handed a blank piece of paper, told to write an essay, 250 words. Sometimes you fear you have no creativity whatsoever,
bored yourself with your line of conversation...
and then you think,
'there must be something more'.
In Hope, Joy and Peace, https://conta.cc/3gFXFH1, I discussed the life-giving prayer I have been praying of late, seeking to maintain personal equilibrium in this uncertain time.
Before I go on, let me ask a question as did that Dutch saint of a woman, Corrie ten Boom: Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire? hmmm . . .
I endeavor to have a set-aside time of prayer every morning, and I usually start my prayers by giving God his proper due--remembering that he is God: mighty, powerful, more than able . . . yet, so so good. My morning prayer time is usually in my tiny home office early in the morning and usually with a small dog or two sitting nearby.
After saying 'good morning' to my Lord, I move to something like this:
I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.1
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.2
Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth!
Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.3
May the favor of the Lord our God be upon us; And confirm for us the work of our hands; Yes, confirm the work of our hands.4
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.5
Oh, that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!6
I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart.7
Here's the thing: you could take one or all of these verses, apprehend them as your own, and pray them at any point throughout your day; but one thing is certain--you move the heart of God when you pray his Word back to him. So why not pray in power?
Write one or more of these verses down, make them your own and pray them for yourself or over another. Why? Because we are not meant to eke out our existence(s), no no--we are meant to T.H.R.I.V.E.!
let's do it,
